Girls Clubs- Jamboree

Our girls clubs were able to attend the 2010 Jamboree at the Legacy Retreat Facility. There were girls from all over the state. Our girls had a wonderful time and enjoyed many, many fun things. The Jamboree consists of a day just for girls ages 3-18. It has swimming in the county's largest pool and a large lake with a gigantic trampoline for the girls to jump and slide off, lovingly called "the blob." lol They have canoes to float in and paddle boats to ride in. A large foam play area and a humongous shark slide and other inflatables to jump around in. Each age category can enter in a baking competition, a decorate a T-Shirt contest, and cheer or human video reenactments. The older girls even get to enjoy some spa time. The canteen is open for snack foods and a special mini-mall is open with everything a girl wants, from jewelry, hair accessories, purses, bags, make-up, hats and more...what girl doesn't like shopping? The day is packed with lots of fun. Our girls from PSCOG had matching shirts made by the director Kelly Vaughn. Through out the year, they raise funds to help them go to Jamboree, and helping others. They help the children's home in Sevierville, TN. They save Campbell Soup labels and send to the home. It has helped the Orphanage buy many things over the years, like clothes, school supplies even a van or two over the years. Wow! That's making a difference. They have other projects that help others in foreign lands too. The girls had the best time and looked "as cute as a button" in their little matching outfits. Thanks for all your donations to help keep girls clubs going at the Powder Springs Church of God. We appreciate it. The theme this year was "Over the Rainbow." It went with the classic movie, "The Wizard of Oz."

* You too can help the Children's Home in Sevierville without it costing you a thing, but a little time and some postage. Cut and save your Campbell Soup labels and send them to: Labels of Love, COG Children's Home, P.O. Box 4391, Sevierville, TN. 37864-4391

*One of the pics up top, is of one of the cakes that was decorated for the contest. Awesome. These girls get serious.

Mother's Day Celebration

Thanks to all that came out for the Mother's Day Celebration for the assisted living home. We had a wonderful time worshiping and sharing the word of God. The Girls Clubs from our church sang for the elderly and the residents said they really enjoyed it. At the end of the service, the members of Powder Springs Church of God and the girls clubs and U-design jewelry owner, presented the residents with a beautiful "MOM" bracelet designed by Kelly Vaughn with semi-precious quality materials of Swarovski pearls, crystals and sterling silver. They were wrapped and presented in an sweet pink organza bag and special tags made by the girls, that said, "Happy Mother's Day." The resident mothers loved their bracelets and said they enjoyed their special day made possible by the Powder Springs Church of God.

*With the help and donations from others like you, PSCOG will be able to help make life better for others. Thank you in advance for doing what God wants you to donate to help the organization help others. May God Bless You.
